We made the scissor lift using .0625" thick aluminum flat bar. We bent the aluminum into "U" shapes, then crossed them over each other, attaching them with screws and lock nuts in the middle. It's powered using a Tetrix motor attached to a gear, which spins an all-thread rod, moving the lift up and down.
